One of the few counties in Illinois that had been without a case of COVID-19 now reports its first case.

Health department officials in Brown County report their first confirmed case of COVID-19.

The resident is a male in his 20s. He is currently recovering at home.

A contact tracing investigation has begun to notify close contacts and assure they are able to quarantine appropriately.

There are now just five counties left in Illinois without a confirmed case of COVID-19, including Scott County in western Illinois.
