Brewer Pleads Guilty, Sentenced for Attempted Escape

A Quincy man pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in connection with an attempted escape from the Adams County Jail and was sentenced to state prison Thursday.

In Adams County Circuit Court, 35 year old William Brewer pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property. He was immediately sentenced to one year in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He will also be required to testify if any of the four others who have been charged in the attempted escape go to trial.

The cases of 46 year old Brian Dyer, 29 year old Jeffrey Schmidt, 22 year old Patrick Lambert and 29 year old Cody Felker are pending.

Brewer is already serving a five year sentence in the deaths of two children in a Quincy house fire last October.
