Report Says Big Lots is Suddenly Closing a Location in Illinois

Well, this seems to have come out of nowhere. There are multiple reports that Big Lots has suddenly decided to close a location in Illinois as 2023 comes to an end.

This year has been a struggle for many brick and mortar retailers and it appears that Big Lots is no exception. I came across this report from The Sun which appears to be based off of a story shared on Yahoo Finance of a Big Lots location in Peoria, Illinois closing imminently.

Which Big Lots in Peoria, Illinois is closing?

The Yahoo Finance report says it's the store at 3013 N. Sterling Ave in Peoria, Illinois. According to Google Maps, there are also 2 other Big Lots in Peoria. This is one of the locations NOT closing.

The good news is that Yahoo Finance says that there is a sign on the N. Sterling Avenue Big Lots location that says "this location only" regarding closing, so hopefully this is just an isolated store shuttering and not the first of many more to come.

The Sun report says that Big Lots will also close stores in New York state and North Carolina, but no other states are mentioned as possibilities.
