Missouri Man Shares Video of Curious Bear in His Backyard
We were told by the state of Missouri that we would seen see more bears. That prediction has just come true for one Missouri guy who shared video of this curious apex predator that decided to investigate the trees in his yard.
I'm not sure what day this happened, but the video share from David Dixon in Missouri appears to be new. It's a short video on YouTube entitled "Missouri Bear!" and that's all I know at this point. He's right. This is definitely a bear.
If I had to guess, I'd say this happened in the southern half of Missouri where black bears are much more prevalent. But, I really can't assume that as the Missouri Department of Conservation has documented that these curious animals are migrating northeast and will be seen even in the St. Louis area. It's happened before and it will happen again.
It's not a great idea to chase a bear if you see one. First of all, if it's a mama bear with cubs, you risk an attack as they can be very defensive when young ones are nearby. Most bears are solitary creatures that will avoid human contact. It's never good when a bear gets comfortable around people in Missouri, so making sure you're not giving them a reliable outdoor food source is important.
