If you believe in the old adage, this May should a very flowery one in Hannibal.

Checking the April precipitation numbers from the Hannibal Filter Plant, we received more than twice the average amount of rainfall last month.

The Filter Plant measured a total of 7.76 inches of rain in April, compared to an average of 3.78 inches.

Most of that total came at the end of the month, with 5.4 inches of rain falling between the 25th and the 30th. Three-point-four inches of rain fell in Hannibal on the 29th.

That 7.76 inch total was the most rainfall Hannibal has gotten in a month since 11.33 inches of rain fell in July of 2015.

Also, we tied a record high temperature when the mercury reached 85 on the 19th, tying a mark last reached in 1971.
