Another Legionnaire’s Case Reported at Illinois Veterans’ Home

Yet another case of Legionnaire’s Disease has been reported at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy.

The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Illinois Department of Public Health reports that, for the third time this week, a laboratory-confirmed case of Legionnaire’s Disease was confirmed at the Veterans’ Home late Wednesday.

The resident diagnosed is currently in stable condition.

As a result, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs is boosting disinfection levels in its water to further reduce any exposure to residents and staff. They are also implementing modified water restrictions on the campus of the Illinois Veterans’ Home.

Representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have returned to Quincy at the request of the Department of Public Health to review testing protocols for individuals with respiratory illness.
