Adams County residents could see a slight increase in property taxes.
County board members discussed a 6.5 percent property tax levy increase Monday night. Increased expenses including effects of Illinois recent minimum wage hike are a factor.County Finance Chair Brett Austin says the county is eleven percent of a resident’s tax bill. That 6.5 percent increase works out to an increase of nine dollars a year on a house with an assessed value of 100-thousand dollars.
