A Sure Sign of Spring – This Popular IL Ice Cream Stand is Open
Yes, February of 2022 has been a challenging month, especially weather-wise, with copious amounts of precipitation, both fluffy and frozen, falling throughout the area.
But none of that matters anymore, because Friday, February 25 marked the unofficial/official beginning of Ice Cream Season!!!
Whenever we do our annual survey of favorite small town ice cream stands, one of those that always ranks high is the Heavenly Delight Ice Cream Shop in the small Morgan County, Illinois community of Murrayville. They opened for the 2022 season last Friday.
If you have never made the drive to Murrayville (south of Jacksonville) and you're a fan of soft serve ice cream in all its many forms, a road trip would be in order.
Along with the usual array of cones, sundaes and shakes, they have something that they call the Smashing Delight, which is kind of like a Blizzard - kind of.
Yes, Heavenly Delight is the first of the ice cream stands to open, but they're also the first to close. They usually close around Labor Day.
You can keep up with their goings-on by going to their Facebook page.
By the way, our other favorite small town ice cream stand, the Dari Ripple in Pittsfield, usually opens in April. You can go to their Facebook page here.
