A Missouri city named as one of the 10 Most Sustainable Cities
When it comes to cities where sustainability is at the forefront of their future one city in Missouri ranked in the top 10 up there with cities like San Francisco and Salt Lake City.
According to lawnstarter.com, St. Louis, Missouri has been named one of the 10 Most Sustainable Cities in the US for 2022, St. Louis comes in ranked at 10th place behind cities like San Fransisco ranked number 1, followed by Rochester, NY, New York City, Boston, Oakland, Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Des Moines, and St. Louis. The rankings were made up of a number of different factors, on the site they say...
"We compared nearly 200 of the biggest U.S. cities based on 23 key indicators of eco-consciousness. We looked at Earth-friendly policies, infrastructure, and transportation. We also measured local pollution levels and rewarded cities with sustainable food production practices."
So what makes St. Louis deserving of being ranked so highly on this list? Well according to the rankings St. Louis scores really high on Food Production, as well as eco-friendly policies, in fact, the only category where St. Louis struggles is infrastructure, which makes sense considering it is an older historic city. Chicago comes in at 44th on the list, and Kansas City takes the 65th spot on the list, which cities are ranked the lowest? The bottom cities include Peoria, Arizona, and Mesquite, Texas. I love seeing that St. Louis ranks in the top 10, it just goes to show that you can be a midwest city that deals with all four seasons and still be eco-friendly.
