Eight wins and three losses is the final record for the 2014 Hannibal Pirate football team.

There are plenty of reasons for optimism as we await the next football season. Juniors and sophomores filled a lot of key roles for the Pirates last year.  The key to the '15 season is the off season work for the returnees.

One of the things I really liked about the '14 Pirates was the explosive nature of this team. You had to be ready for a big play on every snap whether the Pirates were on offense or defense.

I also enjoyed seeing freshman kicker Trevor Watson grow into that role as the season progressed.

The most memorable game was the 27-26 fourth quarter comeback at Mexico back on September 12th. When Hannibal got their second TD, I knew that the Pirates were going to win that one somehow.  I will also remember how quiet the Mexico crowd became as we got farther and farther into the 4th quarter that night.

And, thanks to Coach Mark St. Clair, his entire staff, the information/technology people with the Hannibal Public School District for their help in making the broadcasts very easy to prepare and execute.

Also, thanks to Terry Ahern for sitting in as the color commentator again in '14.
