The Hannibal Cavemen gave the Kokomo Jackrabbits all they could handle on their home field, but came up short twice over the weekend.

On Saturday, Kokomo scored twice in the first and once in the third on their way to a 4-1 win. The Cavemen mounted a comeback in the ninth, scoring once but falling short. Sam Cottingham-Beard was the starter and loser for Hannibal.

On Sunday, the Jackrabbits took a 3-0 lead into the ninth. With one out, third baseman Seth Soto singled. Walks to right fielder Ryan Snyder and left fielder Emilio Lollio followed to load the bases. Soto scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of shortstop Sam Griggs that was dropped by the right fielder. First baseman Tyler Niemann tied the game with a two-run single.

In the bottom of the ninth, Kokomo third baseman Milo Freeman reached on an error, went to second on a ground out, and scored the winning run on a two-out single by catcher C.J. Price.

Brendan Kleekamp came in in relief in the eighth and took the loss.

After a day off Monday, the Cavemen are back at Clemens Field Tuesday and Wednesday to take on the Springfield Sliders. To hear the live webcast, click here.
