The Friends of the Log Cabins Association is hosting the Potawatomi Indians commemorative caravan with a public potluck picnic, at the Shelter House on Quinsippi Island on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.. There will be a special ceremony conducted at the commemorative rock, followed by a potluck picnic. Mayor Kyle Moore will issue a proclamation. Anyone interested in attending the ceremony/picnic is welcome. Please Email Friends of the Log Cabins at: llogcabinvillagequincyil@gmail.com , so the Friends know how much food to purchase and how many are coming. You are also asked to bring a side as well.

The 5th annual Wine Pull will be held at the Quincy Country Club on Thursday, September 20 from 5:30 to 8 pm the event is sponsored by The Sunset Home. The funds raised for this event will go toward the purchase of additional medical equipment. For more information call 223-2636.

Meals on Wheels is holding a Cook’s Night Off event on the third Thursday of the month throughout 2018. It’s a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program as they offer eat-in, carry-out, or drive thru meals for just $7 each. All meals include either Fried Chicken or Roast Beef, two side dishes, bread and dessert. The hours for each 3rd Thursday of each month are 4 to 6pm at the Senior Center at 639 York Street.

The Quincy Park District will be holding Fall Fest at Moorman Park on Saturday, September 22. The event will run from 10am to 1 pm and will feature fun kid’s activities, a Truck Show, bounce houses, a helicopter landing and more. This is a free event for all to attend.

A benefit for Logan “Warrior” Bergman will be held on Saturday, September 29th at the American Legion hall on highway Double-M in Hannibal. The event will feature a live * silent auction, a 50-50 raffle, a corn-hole tournament, a kids area, a bounce house, a petting zoo and live music by DJ Andy Sherman.. The cost is $7 at the door and $5 for kids 12 and under. For more info, call 573-248-6215. All proceeds will go towards Logan’s medical bills incurred from several heart surgeries.

The Ralls County Kayak Race is going to be held on Saturday, September 29th. This year they're offering two races. A one mile race and a seven mile race at Indian Creek on the beautiful Mark Twain Lake. You can find more information and register online at www.getmeregistered.com/rallscountykayakrace. The event is hosted by the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Ralls County Health Department.

9-29 Massman Construction, and the entire Champ Clark Bridge team invite the public to come to Riverview Park in Louisiana on Saturday, September 29 to learn about updates on the new bridge and ask questions. The update will begin at 10:00 a.m. and is anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes in length. Regular updates about construction are provided online at www.champclarkbridge.com

The Frankford Rural Fire Department will be hosting its Fourth Annual Quarter Madness on Friday October 5th at the Jennings Opry Building in Frankford. We will begin serving food at 5:30 pm, followed by Quarter Madness at 6:30 pm. Proceeds are to benefit the New Rural Fire House.

The Saverton-Ilasco United Methodist Church will be holding a Church Bazaar &
Country Store at the church located 3 miles south of Hannibal on Highway 79 in Illasco. There will be gift baskets, holiday decorations, quilts, lap robes, pillows, donuts, cinnamon rolls, coffee and tea. Plus you can also get your flu shots and blood pressure checked while shopping.

The Great Pumpkin Festival will be held on Saturday, October 6th in Paris, Missouri at the Paris City Park & Fair Grounds. The event sponsored by Paris Area Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Paris Senior Center will feature a breakfast from 7 to 9:30 am, a Veteran’s Salute with American Legion, a 5K Run 8:00 am, a Pumpkin Haul Obstacle Race with registration at 8:00 am and the race at 9:00. This is a family friendly event with a kids zone with petting zoo, bounce houses & corn wagon, vendors, food, chili contest, merchant drawing for cash give-a-way, duck race, entertainment, corn hole tournament, and weather permitting – a tethered hot air balloon. Bring your lawn chairs.

The 1st Annual Running with the Eagle’s Wings Memorial 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, October 20th at Wavering and Moorman Parks. The event will begin at 8:30 that morning. All participants are asked to register online by October 7 by going to Facebook.com/RunningWithEaglesWings. The event was founded to bring awareness to Brain Cancer and also to raise money for the Brett Miller Scholarship Funds at both QND and Liberty High Schools.

The annual Tri State Warrior Outreach Run is October 28th at 9am at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. The proceeds from this race go toward unmet needs of our area veterans.
