Sam Bradford Raising Money for Oklahoma Tornado Victims

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is raising money for disaster relief in his home state. Bradford on Wednesday announced a fundraising effort that seeks money but also goods such as cleaning supplies, baby items, and pet items for victims of this week's tornadoes in Oklahoma. Bradford's family is from the north side of Oklahoma City. His relatives were not hurt in the tornado.

Cardinals Unable to Sweep Mets

Daniel Murphy and David Wright combined for five hits and three RBIs against Adam Wainwright and the New York Mets snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday.

Jonathan Niese (3-4) allowed two runs on six hits in 7 1-3 innings, his longest outing of the season. He ended his four-game losing streak over five starts since a win at Minnesota on April 12.

The Mets avoided a four-game sweep by getting to the Cardinals ace, who was coming off a two-hit shutout in which he no-hit the Rockies for 7 1-3 innings.

Illinois State A.A.U.Tumbling and Trampoline Championships This Saturday in Quincy

Gem City Gymnastics and Tumbling and the City of Quincy are hosting the 2013 Illinois AAU Tumbling and Trampoline State Championships tomorrow at the Oakley Lindsay Center in  Quincy. More than 325 athletes, including 30 from Gem City Gymnastics and Tumbling, representing 25 gyms are registered to compete.
