United Way Gets $25,000 to Fund Youth Substance Initiative
Developing a program to prevent youth substance abuse has become the newest mission of the United Way of the Mark Twain Area.
At a press conference Tuesday, the United Way unveiled a $25,000 contribution by Continental Cement and Green America Recycling to fund an initiative to prevent youth from using substances.
According to United Way Executive Director Denise Damron, her agency has been challenged to develop such a program, so she is passing that challenge on.
Organizations that want to develop a program to prevent youth substance use can apply to the United Way, beginning July 1st.
