Mark Twain United Way Holds Virtual Annual Meeting

As with so many traditional events in this year of COVID, the United Way of the Mark Twain Area hosted its annual meeting virtually Wednesday.

Speaking by way of You Tube, Executive Director Denise Damron talked about all the United Way had been able to accomplish in the middle of a pandemic, from the COVID-19 Response Fund to Local Celebrity Reads for children to the pork distribution program for area senior centers and food pantries.

Among those recognized by the United Way in their virtual annual meeting was local farmer Joe Kendrick, recognized as Hero of the Year for his work on the pork distribution program, Agency of the Year Douglass Community Services and Business of the Year the Hannibal Board of Public Works.

The Monroe City Food Pantry was recognized for their feeding efforts and recently retired United Way administrative assistant Teresa Niemeyer received a Lifetime Dedication Award.
