The Illinois Department of Public Health has levied fines for violations against two Quincy nursing homes.

In its report for the fourth quarter of 2018, IDPH reports that both Sunset Home and St. Vincent’s Home were fined during the reporting period.

According to the report, St. Vincent’s was cited for two violations, involving mental abuse of a patient and inadequately managing the pain of a second patient.

In the mental abuse case, the employee involved in the case was suspended and then terminated.

At Sunset Home, a resident who was supposed to have assistance using the bathroom fell and broke her wrist.

The three incidents resulted in fines of $2,200 each.
