A former state representative is considering making a run for the Illinois senate next year.

Senator John Sullivan announced Thursday he will not seek reelection to the seat he has held since 2002.

Former State Representative Jil Tracy told reporters Friday Sullivan’s announcement gives her reason to very seriously consider running for the open seat.

Tracy replaced Art Tenhouse in the state house in 2006. She left the house last year to run for Lieutenant Governor with gubernatorial candidate Kirk Dillard.
