A Hannibal man accused of the murder of a woman and the wounding of her husband in Marion County and the wounding of a police officer in Monroe County was in court Monday.

According to Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton, 34 year old Timothy Brokes appeared before Judge Rachel Bringer Shepherd.

Judge Shepherd had granted a motion that Brokes undergo a mental evaluation. It was announced Monday that the mental exam had been completed and that Brokes has been deemed legally competent to proceed.

Brokes is alleged to have shot and killed Brittany Gouch and wounded Aaron Gouch and Monroe City Police officer Travis Pugh in January of 2016.

A defense motion to suppress evidence is scheduled to be heard September 21st. A trial date for Timothy Brokes has yet to be set.
