After being cancelled last year due to the pandemic, the QU Homecoming weekend is back for in-person events which features the balloon glow.  September 30th is the bog night when several hot air balloons will light up the night sky on Quincy University’s Friars’ Field. The event runs from 6:00 until nightfall, so arrive early to see the inflating of the balloons and stay until dark to see them lit up. It is truly a magnificent sight to see. The balloon glow is the official start to Homecoming weekend for the Hawks.

Even better? The whole event is absolutely free! If you have never experienced this you are missing out. Watching the balloons inflate and fly into the night sky and glow is amazing, and everyone is invited to attend. Seeing these balloons is one thing, but I had the chance to ride in one and the views that I saw from looking of Quincy was amazing. But, what I remember most is just how peaceful it was to just relax, take in the sights, and listen to nothing but the balloon floating in the air. It's a memory I will never forget.

The balloon glow will run from 6 pm - 9 pm on Friday, September 30, so bring your lawn chairs, blankets, friends and family for this event. Since debuting in 2015, the event has attracted spectators of all ages, and everybody looked to be having a great time. How often can you actually see this many hot air balloons up close?
