The Fourth of July weekend has barely begun, but there's already been a lake tragedy. A Missouri man fell off of a pontoon boat at Table Rock Lake and did not survive according to the highway patrol.

According to an accident report shared by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Christopher D. Moore, age 61 of Kansas City, Missouri was on a pontoon boat on Table Rock Lake on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. At approximately 4:42pm, he fell overboard and held onto the side for a period of time before he became separated from the boat. The report says that after a struggle, he went underwater and was unable to be revived by his wife and first responders after he was pulled from the water.

The report says that lifesaving measures were attempted, but were unfortunately not successful. The Stone County, Missouri Fire Department were a part of the rescue efforts according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to US News and World Report, there were 4 Missouri drownings during last year's Fourth of July weekend in 2023.
