Money approved last year to pay for renovations at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy has been released by the state.

Comptroller Susana Mendoza announced that more than $7-million dollars earmarked for work at the Quincy facility was released on Friday.

In all, state lawmakers approved $53 million dollars last year for the Quincy home. Federal funds are expected to cover the total cost of $220-million dollars for new buildings, a new water system and other upgrades at the over 130 year old vets home.
