A warrant was issued Sunday, November 17, by the Circuit Court of Marion County charging 26 year old Jason E. Stamper, of New London, with Tampering in the First Degree. The warrant stems from a November 15th report of a stolen vehicle from a service station in the 100 block of Shinn Lane.

The owner of the stolen vehicle reported he had parked his truck, which was pulling a trailer and a 4 wheel ATV, with the keys inside. When he returned, the vehicle was gone. On November 16 the stolen truck was located on the parking lot of a hotel in the 4100 block of Market St. On November 17 Hannibal officers received information that the suspect who had stolen the truck was at a residence in the 900 block of Vermont.

After contacting Stamper at the residence, he was placed under arrest and released to the Marion County Jail on a 24 hour hold. The trailer and ATV were later recovered in Ralls County. Stamper remains in the Marion County Jail with a bond set at $25,000.00 cash only.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
