Russian Jets Caught Near Alaska & Doomsday Planes Over Missouri
There's something unusual happening in two places. One is the airspace over Alaska where Russian jets were intercepted and the other involves Missouri and two 'Doomsday Planes' that were recently spotted over it.
Let's start with what happened over Alaska recently. As Newsweek reported, Russian aircraft were intercepted by American fighters after NORAD detected them coming uncomfortably close to our airspace.
That event was followed shortly thereafter by two United States 'Doomsday planes' spotted over Missouri concurrently. One was Boeing E-6B Mercury codenamed "ARNIE06". The other was a Boeing WC-135R Constant Phoenix 'nuke sniffer' codenamed "TOPCT48".
There's one more event I haven't mentioned that is even creepier. Newsweek just reported that Russian nuclear subs crossed under the Arctic ice to an area of the United States west coast. One was reportedly armed with nuclear missiles.
As an avid Tom Clancy reader, I follow events like this closely and I can tell you that there have been dozens of close encounters like this over the past few weeks although few make the major headlines.
Just 6 days ago, Putin warned NATO that it risks war with Russia because of its involvement in the Ukraine conflict. This could all be just saber-rattling, but there's enough plane and sub activity to warrant keeping close tabs on what our enemy is up to. With Missouri being the home of the B-2 Stealth Bombers at Whiteman Air Force Base, that puts the Show Me State squarely at the center of a potential nightmare scenario.
