A rural Palmyra man was taken into custody Sunday as the result of a shooting incident in Palmyra.

According to Palmyra Police Chief Eddie Bogue, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of West Line Street just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Officers learned that 34 year old Anthony DeSimone had gotten into an altercation with a resident, left the area in a car, then returned, got out of his car with a rifle and fired several rounds into the vehicle of the person with whom he had the altercation.

DeSimone left the area and was taken into custody at his residence a short time later.
There were no injuries.

DeSimone is in the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending the formal filing of charges.
