Authorities say skeletal remains found in a northern Illinois home belong to a McHenry County woman.

Forty-nine-year-old Jacqueline R. Schaefer's badly decomposed body was identified using DNA testing.

The remains were found last month in a plastic bag after a caretaker visited the vacant home near McHenry, which authorities say had been empty for about 18 months.

Authorities haven't said how Schaefer died or how she knew the home's owner, who was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with concealment of a homicide.

The 62-year-old man remains in a Nevada jail after declining to waive extradition.

No one has been charged with Schaefer's death.

McHenry County Undersheriff Andy Zinke tells The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald that investigators "don't have all the pieces" and are still examining the case.
