The body of a man found in the Mississippi River in Clark County earlier this week has been identified.

Clark County Sheriff Shawn Webster reports the body that was found in the river in Alexandria Tuesday night has been identified as 34 year old Jared Matlock of Montrose, Iowa.

When the body was discovered, Sheriff Webster said it was believed the body had been in the water and sun for at least 24 hours.

The cause of Matlock’s death is still under investigation.
