Quincyan Arrested for Attempted Murder Following South 7th Shooting

A Quincy man faces attempted murder charges following a shooting Thursday night in the 400 block of South 7th.

Quincy Police say their investigation into the shooting identified 18-year-old Marcus Coleman of Quincy as the man who fled following the shooting around 9:50 p.m. Thursday. Police say they received several calls from members of the public who spotted Coleman in the 500 block of Cedar. Officers took Coleman into custody in that area following a brief foot chase. Coleman is held in the Adams County Jail.

Quincy Police identify the victim as Derangle Riley of Chicago. Police say he was taken by ambulance to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the face.  His condition is not known at this time Police say that Riley and Coleman are acquaintances and that this is not a random act of violence.
