Quincy Restaurant Owner Charged with 1991 Missouri Murder
A Fulton, Missouri man who is also the owner of a Quincy restaurant has been arrested in connection with a nearly 30 year old murder case.
Officials in Cole County, Missouri report the arrest Thursday of 44 year old William Christopher Niemet for the 1991 murder of his then-classmate, 14 year old Greg Jones of Russellville, Missouri.
Niemet is the owner of the Golden Corral franchise in Quincy.
Niemet, who was 15 at the time of the murder, had been charged in juvenile court in connection with the shooting death, but the prosecutor at the time dropped all charges.
Niemet sued the Cole County Sheriff in 1997, saying he had been imprisoned on the basis of false information.
Officials say it was new technology that led to Niemet’s arrest this week.
