Quincy Police will be cracking down on impaired and unbuckled drivers through the rest of this month.
Deputy Police Chief Shannon Pilkington says that if your celebration will involve alcohol… please plan for a sober ride home and buckle up. Police ask that if you see an impaired driver on the road… pull over and call police.
Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that 839 people lost their lives due to drunk driving last December.  There were 285 drunk driving related fatalities last year between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The extra enforcement by Quincy Police is part of the Illinois Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign administered and funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal highway safety money managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
