A Quincy man is sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to reduced charges in the stabbing of his son.

In Adams County Circuit Court Tuesday, 63 year old Jay Schroder pleaded guilty in May to aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery.

As part of a plea deal, Schroder was sentenced to 30 months’ probation and ordered to pay restitution.

Judge Robert Adrian said he disagreed with the sentence, but understood why the State’s Attorney’s office agreed to the deal.

Schroder is alleged to have stabbed his son on Father’s Day of 2018. His son suffered non-life threatening injuries.
