(Quincy) - A lawsuit has been filed against the city of Quincy for damages sustained during a water main break last year.
Filed by James and Mary Giles, the lawsuit contends that last October, the water main outside the Giles' house in the 2600 block of Woodale burst at the connection between the city main the Giles' residence's lateral line.
According to the lawsuit, when the pipe burst, it caused water to overflow the Giles' sump pump, causing extensive water damage to their basement.
The suit alleges that the city was negligent in failing to keep the water main in reasonable condition and to properly inspect and repair it.
