QU Student Killed in Automobile Accident

Quincy University student Dane Custer, 21, was one of three killed in an automobile accident in Sarasota, Florida early Monday morning.

Additional victims included Wesley C. McCurley and Michael P. Duffy, both 21, of Sarasota, Florida. A fourth passenger of the 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis is in the hospital and expected to survive.

It is unclear at this time what caused the crash.

Custer was a communication and music production major and played sousaphone school’s marching band. Originally from Illinois, he moved to Florida in 2015.
