QU President Robert Gervasi to Resign
Dr. Robert Gervasi, president of Quincy University, will resign from his position effective at the end of the 2016-17 academic year according to a press release sent on March 3. He has accepted a position as President of Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.
"It has been a tremendous honor to serve QU students and the larger Quincy region," Gervasi says.
The Board of Trustees expects to have a succession plan for Gervasi and interim CFO Tom Ponto in the near future. Ponto has announced April 30 as his final day with the University.
In October, the QU’s faculty instilled a vote of no confidence in President Gervasi and the Board voted to retain him in a limited capacity (primarily fundraising and external relations).
"We have done our best to bring QU into the community, and to invite the community to QU,” Gervasi says. “As I now respond to a new call to service, and Jen and I move to Ohio Dominican University, we will always recall our friends and colleagues at Quincy University with great fondness and good wishes for QU's ongoing success."
Gervasi joined Quincy University in June of 2008, becoming the 22nd president and first lay president in university history.
Ohio Dominican University announced Gervasi as their new president on Friday morning in a Youtube Live video (see below)...
