Police: Six-Year-Old Started Store Fire
Police in western Illinois say a 6-year-old boy started a fire that heavily damaged a Dollar General store earlier this month.
Silvis police say investigators found the boy used a lighter he brought from home to set the Nov. 11 fire. Authorities say the boy wandered from his family during a shopping trip and set paper towels on fire. No one was injured in the fire. Damage estimates were about $500,000.
The Moline Dispatch reports no charges have been filed. Police say they're working with the boy and his family to provide educational resources.
Silvis is in Rock Island County.
