I've had enough family members and friends who have been (or are) involved in law enforcement to know that every day is different and many days are dangerous. Sometimes those dangerous days come in unexpected ways. That was definitely the case for Kendall County, Illinois deputies who responded to the scene of a house fire and knew they had to act right now. Here's what the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said about what happened:

On January 31st, 2022 at approximately 12:49 AM, Officers from the
Montgomery Police Department and Oswego Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of Williamsburg Ct. in Montgomery. Before the arrival of fire personnel, Montgomery PD Officers attempted to make entry at the front of the house but were unable to due to smoke and flames. Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies Giannotti and Mielke heard calls for help from the rear of the residence and rushed towards them.

There are two body cam videos shared. The first one becomes dislodged as one of the deputies realizes he has to catch one of the family members jumping from the home. The second body cam footage begins about halfway through.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of all the departments that responded, the family survived this harrowing ordeal. Just another day in the life of those that serve and protect.
