The Palmyra Panthers advanced to its district championship game with a 42-7 win over Highland Wednesday night.

The Cougars scored first on a 3-yard run by Derick Smith at the 3:57 mark in the first quarter. The Panthers' bobby Gruenloh recovered a fumble in the end zone late in the quarter to make the score 7-6 Highland. It was all Palmyra the rest of the night. Alec Bland scored twice on a 29 yard run and a 53-yard punt return. Quarterback Brock Butler scored twice on runs of one and four yards.

Palmyra travels to Clark County Monday night to play for the district championship. Wednesday night's win runs the Panthers' record to 7-4. Highland's season ends with a 4-7 record.
