One Man Dead After 8th and Adams Crash and Fire

QUINCY, ILL. -- One man is dead after a truck crashed into a the Crossing Thrift Store building at 8th and Adams late Wednesday afternoon. Quincy Police say identification of the driver is pending.

Police say they received several calls around 4 p-m regarding a vehicle driving in an erratic manner and at excessive speeds and that the vehicle went through the 8th and Jefferson intersection without stopping. The vehicle went over the curb and hit the fence at Blessed Sacrament Church, crossed Adams and hit the Crossing Thrift Store building.

Witnesses say the vehicle became engulfed in flames and that fire quickly spread through the building. A female bystander was injured but is expected to recover.
