One man is in custody as the result of a stabbing incident in Hancock County earlier this week.

According to Sheriff Scott Bentzinger, deputies responded to a report of an altercation involving four men in a vehicle on a rural Hancock County road south of Highways 9 and 96 about 11 p.m. Monday.

Bentzinger says two of the men suffered knife wounds in the incident, while the other two men were not hurt.

One of the men, identified only as a 43 year old, was stabbed in the chest and taken to Ft. Madison Community Hospital.

The other man with knife wounds, who is 34 years of age, was treated the next day at Carthage Memorial Hospital.

Charges in the incident are pending. The investigation continues.
