One person is dead and two people are injured after two cars collide in Boone County.  The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened at 7:30 a.m Friday on US 63.

Troopers say a car driven by 21 year old Kimberly Schumann of Jacksonville, Missouri swerved to avoid another vehicle that crossed into her path.  Schumann’s car went out of control and traveled through the median, striking the side of an oncoming car driven by 22 year old Leah Ensor of Holliday.

Schumann was pronounced dead by a first responder shortly after the crash.  Ensor and a passenger, 23 year old Jonathan Sauceda of Columbia sustained moderate injuries and were taken to University Hospital in Columbia by ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation.
