The National Weather Service says minor flooding is possible along portions of the Mississippi River by next weekend…

Heavy rains have pounded northeast Iowa, southern Minnesota, and southern Wisconsin since Tuesday.

Much of this rain will drain into the Mississippi River over the coming days, which will flow south into Missouri and Illinois.

Those along the Mississippi River, especially north of St. Louis could be affected with minor flooding late next week.  However, some uncertainty remains in the forecast given the rainfall is still making it into the Mississippi River basin.

The Mississippi at Hannibal is predicted to hit 20 feet by October 3. That’s 4 feet over flood stage.
