The mayor of New London is stepping down after more than a decade in office.

The Courier Post reports that Marvin Miller submitted his resignation to the city council at their regular meeting Monday.

Miller cited changes in city personnel as one reason for leaving office.
Miller had just been reelected to his fifth term in April.

Council member Mary Jane White will serve as acting mayor until a new mayor is appointed. There will be an election in April of 2017 to decide who serve will the remainder of Miller’s term. The next regular election is April of 2018.
