Two people have been killed and five others injured in a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 70 in mid-Missouri.

The Fulton Sun reports that three tractor-trailers, three pickup trucks and a sport utility vehicle were involved in the Tuesday morning crash at the eastbound Kingdom City exit.

Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Scott White says officers are working to determine whether the pileup was triggered by a westbound vehicle crossing an I-70 median.

The names of the victims weren't immediately released. The people injured in the crash were transported to a Columbia hospital.
