Monroe County has its first confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Health Department officials in Monroe County announced Monday its first two COVID cases are a couple who are currently quarantined in their home. No information was available on the ages or location of the couple.

Officials have begun contact tracing procedures, working with anyone who may have had contact with the couple.

There is no evidence the couple is connected with the cases of workers at the Brenneman Pork facilities in Monroe and Audrain counties who tested positive last week.

Officials continue to urge the public to practice good hygiene, maintain social distancing and limit in person interaction.
