Monroe City Man Dies in Ralls County Car-Motorcycle Crash

A Monroe City man is dead from injuries suffered in a car versus motorcycle crash on Highway 36 east of Monroe City at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday.

The Highway Patrol reports 79 year old Joseph Barnett was crossing U.S. 36 southbound, failed to yield and was struck by an eastbound motorcycle, driven by 18 year old Donald Quigley.

Barnett suffered minor injuries and refused treatment. Quigley was taken to University Hospital in Columbia where he was pronounced dead.
