(Hannibal)—MODOT’s five-year plan for Northeast Missouri has shifted to maintaining existing roads and bridges.

Officials say funding for roadwork has been cut nearly in half compared to just four years ago.

Northeast District Engineer Kevin James says some road resurfacing and bridge repairs are funded in the five year plan, but money is not there for major projects such as the Mississippi River bridge replacement at Louisiana and the Hannibal Expressway.
