Every county in Northeast Missouri saw a rise in unemployment between December and January.

Some of the increases were significant, especially in, Marion, Monroe, , Pike, Scotland and Shelby counties. The jobless rate in the City of Hannibal also rose by one percent.

The increases in Ralls and Lewis counties were the least dramatic. It was the second straight month that the jobless rate rose in several places.  January 2014 jobless rates are better than January 2013. Missouri's Department of Economic Development reports the February jobless rate at 6.4 percent - up from 6 percent in December and January.
