The United Way of the Mark Twain Area kicks off its 2014 fund raising campaign Wednesday, September 3, beginning at 5 p.m. at Homebank on McMasters Avenue in Hannibal.

Campaign chairman Gary Broughton has set a $580,000 goal for this year's campaign. The kick-off event serves as the official setting of the goal and beginning of this year's effort.

The money raised goes toward providing much-needed funding to a wide variety of agencies throughout northeast Missouri.

The slogan for this year's campaign is, "Our Way ... Your Way ... The United Way."
