Marion County Commissioners Tuesday unanimously approved its fiscal year 2017 budget.

The new budget calls for $13.2 million dollars in spending, an increase of 4.3 percent from last year.

However, the county wound up spending about a million dollars less than they budgeted last year, coupled with a $3-million dollar carry over from a year ago.

This year’s budget includes money for two bridge construction projects and a dollar an hour pay raise for all of the county’s hourly employees.
