(BOWLING GREEN)--  A circuit court arraignment is set for a man who allegedly started a fire at his wife’s Louisiana home because she would not go watch fireworks with him.

42-year-old Russell Ray Darnell of Bowling Green is charged with felony second degree arson for allegedly starting a fire in a home at Seventh and North Carolina streets on July Fourth.

Crews were called to the scene just after the end of the annual fireworks show along the riverfront. There were no injuries.

According to a police probable cause statement, Darnell allegedly told an officer that he set a blanket on fire in the living room of the residence, where his wife and children were living.    Darnell purportedly told the officer that he did so because his wife would not go watch fireworks with him or answer his telephone calls.    Darnell will be arraigned August 27th.
