A Hancock County man is in custody on a number of charges following an incident Saturday night.

Hancock County deputies were called to Augusta Farmers Co-Op Saturday night on a complaint of equipment tampering.

Deputies observed a man near an anhydrous ammonia tank at the business.

As a deputy approached the subject, the man threw a container of ammonia at the deputy and fled on foot.

Deputies arrested 51 year old Steven Haskins of Littleton a short time later.
Haskins is charged with aggravated battery of a police officer, illegal transportation of anhydrous ammonia, unlawful tampering with anhydrous equipment, attempting unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of a deadly substance.

Haskins was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
